In the beautiful town of Calpe on Spain's northern Costa Blanca, we offer a choice of two rental properties.

The three bedroom beach apartment for rent is close to Arenal Beach and its central location makes it suitable for families or other small groups of up to six people.

The villa apartment is available to rent in a more secluded location on the outskirts. It can accommodate up to four people and is self-contained on the ground floor of our own villa, which is in a quiet cul-de-sac 1km from Levante Beach.

1: 'ARENAL BEACH' APARTMENT RENTAL

The apartment has three bedrooms and is suitable for a family or other small group of up to six people to rent.

Sitting in an enviable location on the corner of Calle Huelva and the Avenida Valencia, the apartment is just 50 metres from the golden sand of Arenal Beach and yet only 50 metres from the Avenida Gabriel Miró, which is the main shopping street of Calpe town.

Dozens of shops, bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance and such is the location, with so much on the doorstep, you may find little time to fully explore the diverse range of attractions further afield.

The apartment is on the third floor within a mature low-rise residential block and has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. There is no lift in the building and the front door is accessed via a shallow staircase. The access is not difficult but it would, however, make the apartment unsuitable for the severely disabled or wheelchair bound.

Entry into the apartment is through an imposing and secure wood panel door which leads to a large hallway. All rooms can be accessed from the hallway and consist of the following: A comfortable lounge with a dining area and a small balcony. A well appointed kitchen with gas hob, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and fridge/freezer. A luxury bathroom with shower, bidet and washing machine. Three double bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and a safe. The layout is two king-sized double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. The twin (full-sized 3ft singles) are configured as bunk beds but these can be separated if necessary.

2: 'VILLA' APARTMENT FOR RENT

The apartment to rent sleeps up to four people. It is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac about 1km from the beach and town with off street parking if required.

Our guests benefit from full use of our private swimming pool and terraces.

The spacious apartment which is air conditioned has its own private entrance and is totally self contained.

The bedroom comprises a super king-size (6ft) twin / double bed with bed side radio cabinets and a wardrobe. The large bathroom contains a toilet, shower and vanity unit as well as a washing machine. Within the main living space there is satellite T.V. and video. Furnishings include a double bed-settee, or there are single folding beds available if preferred. There is a kitchenette with fridge/freezer, hob, kettle and toaster, coffee machine and a dining area for four people.

The beaches and main commercial areas are only five minutes away by car or taxi and include an extensive range of shops bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

BEACHES AND COVES NEAR CALPE

Calpe has 13 kilometres of coastline with beaches and coves, ideal for bathing and the practice of various beach and water sports.

El Collao and Gasparet Coves: each 100m long and only accessible by sea.

Les Urques Cove and Puerto Blanco Beach: 200m long, situated in the development of the same name.

Arena-Bol Beach: 2000m long, awarded a Blue Flag. Situated in the town centre.

Cantal Roig Beach: 200m long, awarded a Blue Flag. Situated next to the fishing harbour.

El Racó Cove: 150m long, situated at the foot of the Peñón de Ifach.

Del Penyal Cove: 100m long, situated on the northern slope of the Peñón de Ifach, accessible along a small path.

Levante or La Fossa Beach: approximately 2000m long, awarded a Blue Flag. Situated in the north of the Peñón de Ifach.

Calalga Cove: 100m long it is situated right after the Levante Beach.

Del Mallorquí Cove: 100m long, it is situated near the Les Bassetes marina.

Les Bassetes Cove: 100m long, situated in the marina of the same name.

 
THE PEÑÓN DE IFACH
Calcareous rock which is 332m high. It has become a symbol of the Costa Blanca and was declared a Nature Reserve in 1987 because of its rich wildlife including some indigenous species. You can climb to the top via a footpath which starts from the Nature Hall, a building which houses the information centre.

 

 
THE SALT FLATS
The salt lake and its reed beds are situated about 500m from the Peñón de Ifach and constitute a unique nature spot which gives home to a wide variety of flamingoes and other migrating birds at various times of the year. Originally this lake area was an active salt works.

Castellet de Calpe: Ruins of an old Moorish castle.

Baños de la Reina: Roman fish farm.

Flea Market: Every Wednesday in Avda. Pais Valencià.

Alhambra Cinema: Air conditioned cinema located in the town centre, C/Conde de Altea.

Parks: La Vallesa, Oltà, Enginent and Empedrola - in the developments of the same names. Park of the Hermitage of San Salvador.

GASTRONOMY
Calpe has an extensive offer of restaurants ranging from those specialising in international cuisine to those offering typical dishes of the area, principally based on fish and rice. "Llauna de Calp" and "Arrós de Senyoret" are the best known but there are many more such as "Putxero de Polp" and of course "Paella". Enjoy too the local "cocas" and home-made cakes and pastries along with the "Peñón de Ifach" a wine of intense ruby with purple sparkles that is a homage to this region.

Getting to Calpe Costa Blanca from UK and Europe

Calpe really is very easy to get to. Alicante airport which is only 40 minutes drive away is now a premiere destination for the low-cost airlines. Flight tickets can be booked and confirmed in minutes over the internet from a range of airlines and agencies, and in general the earlier you book the cheaper they are.

Transfer to and from the airport to Calpe can be made by hire car which can be booked in advance or by airport taxi which we can arrange for you if required.

We are hoping to offer our own airport pick-up service in the near future.

By road as part of a longer stay or tour or for travel with extra cargo, there are good sea crossings to either the French channel ports (Calais 1200 miles max) or Northern Spain Bilbao or Santander (600 miles max).
